My Prodigy

This weekend I had some very fun guests, including my prodigy Lara and her pup Jack (the Boston Terrier).

The kewlest part of our visit was when Lara started giving dog training advice to another of my visitors.

Ahh, the passing of the torch!

Lizards aren't cuddly, are they? You tell me. This is Ken, Baby Doll's new mate... hopefully. This is Cutie Pie, Junior's new mate... most likely! I have 2 snakes, I breed Leopard Geckos, and I have a toad and two Prehensile-tailed skinks . Well, now I have FOUR Prehensile-tailed skinks! My first two skinks were Baby Doll (female) and Junior (male). I had thought that they could live together, but it turns out that even though they are both the same species (prehensile-tailed skinks, aka Corucia zebrata ), they are different sub-species. Go ahead and ask. Ask the questions you always wanted to ask someone in a wheelchair. Nothing is too embarrassing. You might as well ask me on this blog since you are somewhat anonymous and don't have to look me in the eye. What have you always wanted to ask someone in a wheelchair? Here, I'll start: Q: "Hi, my name is LaLaundria! I wanted to know how do you take a shower?" A: Well, LaLaundria, I sit down. On a shower chair. I have grab-bars installed in my shower/tub and my commode rooms to give me extra balance. A shower chair is a hard plastic chair made to fit in showers and tubs. I have a shower massage type shower head that helps get the water closer to my hair. Howze that? Ask away, no question is off limits! (Oh Jeez, what am I getting myself into!)

Graduation Day!

I took Frankie out shopping today at the mall. Yeah, I know, it's "black Friday", but that's the point. This day is a great one for "proofing" your service dog. The crowds, the tight maneuvers... they all contribute to helping you determine how your service dog is performing under stressful conditions. I'm please to announce that Frankie got an A+ today! He did very well. He did not react to the crowds any differently today than he does on a "normal" day. He did very well in a couple of stores that were particularly crowded (Bed, Bath and Body Works had some GREAT sales!). All of his subtle maneuvers were spot-on. I could whisper a word or two and he would respond immediately. He was very good with his own leash control. If he got tangled up in the short leash that connects him to my wheelchair, he managed to untangle himself without panicking and without making it worse. I decided that today is Frankie's Graduation Day! I will be removing...
